What is Restorative Gloucestershire?

We Aim To:

Restorative Gloucestershire is committed to promoting the use of Restorative Practices through facilitation, advice and by supporting others to use and develop restorative skills.

Restorative Gloucestershire itself is a group of statutory, non statutory and voluntary sector partners that have joined with the aim of offering all people who come into contact with the criminal justice system (CJS) or who come into conflict in the community an opportunity to participate in a restorative intervention.

What is Restorative Practice?

Restorative practice is wide field of approaches that includes restorative justice. Restorative practice can be used anywhere to prevent conflict, build relationships and repair harm by enabling people to communicate effectively and positively. Restorative practice is increasingly being used in schools, children’s services, workplaces, hospitals, communities and the criminal justice system. Restorative practice can involve both a proactive approach to preventing harm and conflict and activities that repair harm where conflicts have already arisen.

Neighbour Dispute

"I used restorative justice to resolve issues at my sons school, he had been involved in an incident of bullying with a number of other students, so I contacted the school and asked for a restorative resolution. They contacted our local restorative justice agency Restorative Gloucestershire and a resolution was efficiently handled. We are very grateful and was an excellent learning opportunity for the children"

Neighbour

"My new neighbour had started playing very loud music after 10pm and when asked them to turn it down, they refused, I had tried everything and did not know what to do as they would not communicate with me. So I sent a referral into Restorative Gloucestershire who helped facilitate a mediation between myself and my neighbour, we came to an amicable resolution and all parties were left happy"
